2200 riders from 43 nations, competed in the BMX World Championships in Birmingham from May 23 to 27.
An impressive number of athletes to handle for the control of the area which access was limited to national team staff members and riders, allowed only in the competition days of their classes.
The bar codes reading based access control system has brilliantly controlled an area under risk of overcrowding, and canceled the theft of competition bikes, an issue unfortunately not unusual in this type of event.
With 1,150 credentials issued for the British event, including organization, guests, members of national teams and media, the accreditation process managed by Wings with “Get Your Wings Badge”, involved a total of 3,350 people, an impressive number for a such a young and rising discipline as BMX.
